Awakaan Bimaaji is a nonprofit animal shelter dedicated to providing a safe haven for animals within the White Earth Reservation. Our mission is to reduce overpopulation, and the abuse and neglect of domestic animals. We seek to provide and promote the health and humane treatment of animals on the White Earth Reservation by providing shelter, animal protection and community outreach. All actions are based on our Anishinaabe traditional teachings and way of life. We rely on the support of volunteers and donors to continue our vital work. Join us in making a difference in the lives of animals!

Meet Memaw, a beautiful 5 year old female German Shepherd. She gets along with people very well but is selective of her dog friends. She would love to have a home of her own for the holidays - could you be her forever family?

We are committed to tackling the overpopulation of dogs and cats within our community. Periodically we have funding to assist local families in need obtain discounted spay/neuter services for their pets - reach out for more info!
