Awakaan Bimaaji is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal shelter dedicated to providing a safe haven for animals within the White Earth Reservation. Our mission is to reduce overpopulation, and the abuse and neglect of domestic animals. We seek to provide and promote the health and humane treatment of animals on the White Earth Reservation by providing shelter, animal protection and community outreach. All actions are based on our Anishinaabe traditional teachings and way of life. We rely on the support of volunteers and donors to continue our vital work. Join us in making a difference in the lives of animals!

Low-Cost Spay/Neuter
We are committed to tackling the overpopulation of dogs and cats within our community. Periodically we have funding to assist local families in need obtain discounted spay/neuter services for their pets - reach out for more info!
Upcoming Events
09/06/26
We are hosting a low-cost microchip clinic from 1:00pm to 3:00pm in the parking lot of the Twin Lakes Fire Department (245 CR-4, Naytahwaush, MN). Open to dogs and cats. Cost is $10 per pet and includes lifetime registration. Please bring proof of current rabies vaccine if available.

We will have a booth set up at the Naytahwaush Harvest Fest and will have items to be raffled off - stop in and say hi!
